Red Hot But Cool As Ice | ATS The Label

Jenn Hanft in ATS the label

NYC weather has been CRAZY!

Just last week it was cold, and by cold I mean winter jacket cold. Now this week is burning hot with the temperature hitting 90 degrees!!! Isn’t that insane? I’m completely not used to the back and forth.

I decided to pull this shoot out of the archives because I felt it was most fitting for the occasion: red hot, with ice.

You may not be able to tell yet, but I actually shot this outfit in March. I know it’s been forever but I think I just got caught up in so many things that I didn’t find the right time to fit it in and share it. So, you’ll see shortly that there’s snow and ice on the floor…

Wait for it….

BAM! Ice on the floor.

See? I wasn’t joking when I said this was put into the archives hahaha. I found it fitting to use this shoot on a day like today because it’s going to be extremely hot in NY. I’m sure all I’ll be thinking about is wishing there were some snow to cool off. Or at least some ice to lesson the burn. Ironically I’m sporting this blazing red top that reminds me of a chili pepper – which is even double ironic because of the weather today!

Believe it or not, this red top is SUPER versatile. It’s actually a cape top with really long ribbon to tie and style the way you please. I decided to take the ribbons and tie the front cape in so it has a cinched look around the waist. The ribbons are so long that I actually had to tie it around my waist about 3 times! I love how the back cape is loose and free so when you’re walking, you definitely feel that superhero vibe #channelingwonderwoman.

Anyway I figured it’d be nice to pop in and share this. There’s definitely a few shoots that I’ve never posted before because of just having the wrong timing. Life sometimes gets in the way of plans hah! I’m still working out a bunch of other posts coming your way. A huge chunk of them are Hong Kong related so please bear with me!! I apologize in advance for bringing up my trip again but I can’t wait to share my HK photo diary and some top places to check out. I took a ton of photos so I’ve been trying to sort through them all.

Plus I’ve been pretty busy fixing my sleep schedule, catching up with work, and studying. I just applied to take my certification exam for my SHRM-CP so it’s been having a large impact on my spare time. I wish there was more time in a day or at least an extra day in the week that I can dedicate to everything.

Sooooooo while trying to stay cool and not die from a heat stroke, I hope your day is filled with the perfectly content weather that I can only dream of 😂.

with love jenn hanft

  1. Damn girl you looking might fine in that red top!! And I know what you mean about archives! I always have outfits and shoots that don’t make it to the gram or blog but glad you shared this look because I’m loving it 🙂

  2. I can’t believe how hot it is on the East coast when the weather in the West has been so cold. Luckily this weekend is supposed to heat up. This red top is amazing. The color is so vibrant and I love the shape of this top. The waist ties are great for versatility and the cape in the back just make it such a statement piece. You look so fierce and fabulous in this whole look Jenn! Have a great weekend and enjoy the warmth! xoxo, Christine

  3. Our weather here has been unpredictable with 60’s & rainy for Derby to the 90’s the next week so it looks like we have had the same type of weather pattern which makes it difficult to dress appropriately. Great idea with the red hot top in the snow. Good looking – looks like it could warm you up!

  4. The silhouette in that top is just beautiful and it’s oversized in just the right way where it doesn’t become unflattering! I am the same as you where I have images I’ve shot last year that I still haven’t touched!! But it’s kinda nice to throw in some old content here and there for a point of difference!

You look stunning in that colour too!

  5. I’m laughing pretty hard at all the ironies in this post. Snow on the ground while it’s hot outside and the chili pepper top to channel the heat. It’s so cute how you brought it all together. I’ve got to say you are totally slaying in this ensemble. I know that’s a pretty unloved word, but it’s the best way to describe this. Those heels make your legs look a mile long and your super unique top (sounds like it’s cool how you can wear it so many ways) is DEFINITELY giving me the Wonder Woman vibes. Diana would be proud 😉 Hope you’ve had a great week, girlfriend!

  6. I saw that top on your Instagram and fell madly in love with it! The color and cut are absolutely gorgeous. You’ve demonstrated as well what a fab transitional piece it can be. I can totally see it looking fab with a pair of cutoff shorts too.

  7. Haha, the weather sure has been bipolar and we had snow (!) last week and HOT summer temperatures this week, so I’m quite confused too. As for the shooting in March I must say you did a great job (don’t we bloggers always pull it off) looking all calm and natural despite the fact that you were probably freezing to your bones! The red top is a real statement piece and looks great in contrast to all the gray!

  8. The weather is so crazy in NYC, especially the summer/spring months!! I have no idea how on earth it gets so volatile and switches like that, must be global warming ;)! You killed this shoot, I’d be too busy freezing my bum off in the cold! That red is a gorgeous color on you and can’t wait to see what you come up with in the future!

  9. It’s so annoying when the weather is so bipolar! It’s like 30 degrees Celcius in Tokyo now and it’s still May (thats usually July/ August weather!). But anyways, I was immediately drawn to this deep red top because it’s such an elegant design and I just love darker colors like this. You’re rocking it!

BTW you looks absolutely stunning in all the pics lie you always do 🙂
