I am sooo obsessed with lengthy pieces for this upcoming fall. I love how they lay against the body and flow. Lengthy pieces give such dimension to layering and they are super versatile. This particular piece is a stunner because it can double as an open vest or a wrapped dress.
I particularly am a HUGE fan of the open vest look because the piece flows along side me (and behind) as I’m walking. Maybe it reminds me of a cape? (I’ve been binge watching Supergirl lately). Or it’s just that feeling you get when the wind is flowing past you…like how girls like the sound of heels against the floor as they’re walking by. A sense of empowerment, I suppose. And plus, how can you not make a bold statement with this red color?
I had such a fun a fun time shooting this at Herald Square where the city is bustling away with people moving this way and that. It really gave that NYC energy and I found that it was absolutely perfect for this piece. Not only did I stand out amongst the crowd, I had a NY State of Mind (hah!)
This piece was created by Saint x Sinner, a brand created in 2013 by Astrid Soedjono-Astbury who envisioned a collective of cool, edgy and effortlessly sophisticated wear inspired by the streets of New York. Each piece is made in Bali, Indonesia and is a reflection of Astrid’s fashion-filled life. From her childhood in Jakarta, Indonesia – college life in Australia and her current island life in Bali, the Saint x Sinner collections share a personal life journey through its one of a kind patterns and eclectic cuts/designs.
This particular piece is called High Tide Outer/Dress (as it’s a versatile piece) in Raven Red. It can be worn as an open vest (as I pictured above) and a dress!! It’s also part of the Spring Summer 17 collection titled “State of Mine“. Being that it is inspired by NY streetwear, I felt like the perfection location was in the hustle bustle of NY.
Worn as a dress, this piece totally steps up its game. As you wrap around and tie it, it creates a nice overlapping look with the long collar design. I love how the dress is still flowy and definitely lets you move around freely. It’s truly an effortless piece to dress up or down. Paired with some heels, it can definitely be a showstopper during a night out in the city.
